While they all use positive energy, each is tailored to fit a witch’s needs. The first stage. A beautiful new beginning. Sometimes it’s a chance encounter with a stranger with a practically gravitational pull. Or perhaps it’s a friend you’ve had for ages–the light hits them just right one afternoon, and they’re suddenly the loveliest thing you’ve ever seen.

Materials:

• A brand new pink candle–any shade will do
• A blank sheet of paper (avoid lined paper)

As with all magic spells, you must first clear your mind of all negative thoughts. This may take some time if you’ve had a particularly stressful day. That’s okay! The Spell

As it burns, lay the paper in front of you and write your name and the name of the person you’re attracted to in the center of the page. Spritz some of your favorite perfume or cologne over the terms, then dab some on yourself. (Keep the perfume spray away from your candle’s flame since most perfumes and colognes contain alcohol.)

Next, use your pen to draw a circle around the two names on the paper. Be sure to close the process entirely. Set your pen aside when the process is completed, and start visualizing the two of you together. Be as vivid and detailed as possible. Every image in your mind should involve physical closeness. Imagine how their hand will feel in yours, how your heart will warm to share secrets.

When the images are clear in your mind, repeat the following incantation out loud:

Honey Jar Spell

Materials:

• A pen
• A piece of paper
• A lidded jar filled with honey
• A candle–pink is most appropriate for a crush, but red will work as well

First, find a comfortable, safe space. This spell can be cast outside if the weather’s nice, but anywhere with sunlight is ideal.

Pen in hand, write your name three times, one line under the next. After you’ve written your name, rotate the paper 90 degrees so that your repeated name appears sideways. On top of your thrice-written name, write the name of your intended three times. The finished result will look a little messy, but the idea is that your spirits are overlapping and joining together.

Once your names are written down, it’s time to set your intention. This stage is crucial–your choice must be clear. While this is a versatile spell, if you’re looking to catch your crush’s attention, your choice should align with that goal.

Example: [name] will love me in return.

You will write your intention in a circle around the cluster of your names. You mustn’t lift your pen as you write this intention. If the purpose is short, you may have to repeat it–that’s fine. But you want the circle to be joined together wholly. If your choice includes letters that need to be dotted or crossed, you can do that after you’ve closed the loop. Cursive is helpful here.

Once everything’s been written down, it’s time for the honey jar.

Fold your paper until it’s small enough to fit inside the mouth of the jar. Place the piece into the pot and ensure some honey sticks to your fingers. As you remove your fingers from the pot, say the following chant out loud:

“Just as this honey is sweet, so shall [name] be sweet to me.”

With the paper left in the jar and the incantation spoken, lick the honey from your fingers and seal the jar.

Place the candle on top of the sealed jar and light it. You want to let the candle burn down completely, so it may be best to use a small candle.

When you’re finished, place the honey jar in a safe, secret space that only you know about. Repeat this process every day for a week for the most effective results.

When to Use Obsession Spells…

Sometimes you need some mighty magic to get love working in your favor.

Witches generally encourage slow and steady spell-casting for effective, lasting change. You want to work with nature and fate rather than against them. This means that repetition is the most robust and reliable method in a witch’s arsenal.

But repetition requires time and patience–things you won’t always have at your disposal.

Love is powerful, after all. It can eat away your attention until you can’t focus on anything else.

In such annoying circumstances, you might want to consider an obsession spell. Such a spell has two sides. In one regard, it can ignite obsession in another person. Maybe you’re wildly in love with someone who isn’t sending out the same intensity. Perhaps you want passion. That’s something that obsession spells can spark.

Or maybe you’re the obsessed one and need a way to calm down. Obsession spells can help with that, too.

Regarding obsession, the conflict at hand is usually a discrepancy in emotions. Regardless of how the focus is oriented, these spells can help to balance things out.

(The assumption with an obsession spell is that you already know and are in contact with the other person. You will need something they have interacted with to cast this spell. If you don’t know them well enough to access something like that, consider sticking to the Honey Jar Spell or Pink Candle Spell.)

Mad Love Spell

Materials:

• A red candle
• A pencil (for carving into the wax)
• A small item that’s somehow connected to the other person. This could be a tissue they used, a receipt (especially from a meal you shared), a ticket stub from a movie you watched together, or an item that reminds you of them somehow.
• Paper or newspaper to keep wax from damaging your workspace (if that sort of thing concerns you).

Choose a secluded space with a flat surface where you can place the item and the candle next to one another.

Clear your mind of everything except for the object of your obsession. This is typically an easy task since they’re always on your mind. But such a powerful spell requires all your energy and pure intention, so make sure you’re focused.

With your pencil, write your name into the red candle lengthwise. The pencil is less for marking and more for carving, so don’t be worried if you can’t see your name written on the graphite.

Set the candle on the table and place your chosen item next to it. Ultimately, the wax from your candle will melt and drip onto the thing, so this needs to be something that you don’t mind having wax on. As the candle burns and the wax drips onto the object that represents your target’s energy, repeat one of the following enchantments aloud (choose which suits your need):

“The candle burns obsession and melts to meld. Let them burn for me as I burn for [name].”

“The candle burns obsession and melts to calm. As it dwindles, let my passions ease.”

Let the candle burn out entirely. The energy-charged item should have at least a bit of wax by the end. Keep the thing safe and secret until you’ve seen evidence that your spell has taken effect.

What are Commitment Spells?

Just because you’re already in a relationship doesn’t mean that love doesn’t occasionally need some realignment. If you’re looking for a stronger sense of commitment from your partner, the most immediate and compelling thing you can do is communicate.

But a commitment spell can go a long way in clarifying your intentions.

Many people are intimidated by commitment, so it makes sense that you might want some magical assistance.

Try a powerful moon love-binding spell to secure commitment. While a new moon is suitable for a brand-new attraction, a binding bit for commitment works best under the light of a full moon. Plan accordingly.

Binding Spell

Materials

• Two white candles
• A red candle
• A pencil (for carving into the wax)
• A long piece of string (two feet, for safety’s sake)
• Rose petals

Clear your mind of all worries and focus solely on positive energy and your romantic desires to center your spell casting. Spread the rose petals on your work surface as you contemplate your love and why you strongly want to commit to your partner.

With your pencil, carve your name into one of the white candles and your partner’s name into the other. Once you cut the words clearly into the wax, take your string and tie each end around the center of each white candle. You can wrap the yarn around several times, but knot it securely.

Set the two white candles six-to-eight inches apart on a flat surface. There will be an excess of string between them–that’s fine.

Stand the red candle upright between the two white candles. You want it to be centered as evenly as possible, but it doesn’t have to be exact.

With the excess string, form a wide loop you can lasso around the red candle in the center. This center loop doesn’t have to be knotted, but you can use a slip-knot to secure the set-up.

Light the wicks once all three candles stand with the unbroken string wrapped around each one.

The white candles represent you and your partner, and the red candle represents the magnificent power of love. The string that connects the candles is the bond you forge in love. As you watch the candles burn, recite the following incantation aloud:

“I am bound to thee and thee to me. In love to be, I bind you to me.”

When to Cast a Marriage Spell

Marriage spells are very particular, so they get their category (though we consider them a form of commitment spell).

While some practitioners will try to cast a marriage spell before even beginning a relationship with the object of their affection, the most effective marriage spell is the one you cast as a blessing upon an already-established couple.

Marriage doesn’t have to be in the immediate future for this spell to work. But it works best in a relationship with some commitment (dating, exclusivity, living together, etc.).

Materials

• A pen and a piece of paper
• A pot for a small indoor plant
• Gardening soil is acceptable from a gardening store or your garden/yard.
• Mint seeds or seedlings
• Rose hip tea

Yes, this spell will require you to keep a plant alive. Herbs are an essential tool in witchcraft; this spell is no exception. Many kinds of plants can work for marriage spells, but we’ve chosen mint because it overgrows and thrives without needing much attention. If you or your partner are allergic to mint or don’t like the taste, lavender, lemon verbena, and chamomile will all work for this spell.

Energizing Phase

The first thing you have to do is energize the soil. If you and your partner spend time in your yard or garden, soil from that location would be excellent. If you’re open with your partner about your spell craft, you can tell them about the spell and venture out to a gardening center together to pick up some soil.

The point is that the soil is a symbol of nature, but it also represents the foundations of your relationship. You should charge it with the love that you and your partner share.

Once you’ve acquired and energized soil, you’re ready to prepare the planter. With your pen and paper, write down your intentions. This could even be an early version or snippet of vows you may want to share in the future.

Planting Phase

Fold the paper up and place it at the bottom of the pot. Fill the pot three-quarters of the way with the soil you prepared. If you’re starting from seeds, sprinkle them on top of the earth, cover them very shallowly with a bit more dirt, then spray the surface down until you hydrate the world. Water according to the plant’s needs. Use moon water for an extra magical boost.

If you’re starting with a seedling- a much easier and just-as-effective route- carve out a space in the soil to settle your seedling roots. Press the dirt loosely around the base of the plant until the sources cover the roots, and the seedling can stand upright without assistance. Water the soil thoroughly until it drips from the drain hole at the pot’s base.

Place the plant somewhere that will receive adequate sunlight. It should reside in a room where you and your partner spend a lot of time together. A bedroom, living room, or kitchen are all great options.

Brewing Phase

You should wait until you’ve cared for the plant for at least two weeks before you pluck any leaves. (If you start with seeds, you’ll have to wait until the plant has grown to a healthy size. You don’t want to pluck too many leaves at once. Otherwise, you risk killing the plant.)

When ready, pluck three or four leaves from the mint plant and wash them to remove dirt. Brew rose hip tea in a kettle or pot according to the package’s directions. (You can grow your rose hips if you feel incredibly crafty, but store-bought is fine for this component.) Rose hips symbolize the anticipation of being with your true love.

While the tea is still hot, add the mint leaves you grew with all that love.

After the leaves have steeped and the tea is cool enough to drink, pour two cups–one for you and one for your partner.

Sip the tea slowly and think about the long future you’d like to share. If your partner supports your spellcasting and isn’t nervous about committing, share your hopes for the future. A bonding experience will always boost the power of a magic-infused tea.
